Where does perfume layering come from?
Long before becoming a trend in contemporary perfumery, layering has its roots in Middle Eastern fragrance traditions, where the art of perfume has been passed down for centuries.
In the cultures of the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, fragrance has traditionally been built in several stages: scented oils and attars applied to the skin, perfumed waters, followed by bakhour or incense that leaves its trail on clothing and in the hair.

How to master perfume layering
The secret to successful layering is, above all, finding the right balance between different fragrances.
1. Start with the most intense fragrance
A good rule is to apply the most rich, warm or powerful fragrance first, then complement it with a lighter fragrance.
Woody, amber or oriental notes can serve as a base, while a floral, fruity or fresh fragrance can bring lightness and brightness to the composition.
2. Think about contrasts
Layering does not necessarily mean combining two similar perfumes.
