This thousand-year-old plant is said to be native to Persia. In the 1st century, Pliny the Elder, the naturalist and Dioscorides physician and botanist mention in their works the lavender "Aspic" and "Stoechas".

Dioscorides classifies them among the precious plants. The word lavender dates from the Middle Ages, but this plant was already used by the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans to perfume their baths and maintain their laundry. Lavender is widespread throughout the Mediterranean basin.

This small shrub grows mainly in hills and low mountains, it appreciates airy spaces. Lavender essential oil is obtained by distilling the flowering tops.

Its smell is easily recognizable; it is sweet, fresh, flowery and suave. Its color can be transparent to yellow-green or purple. Lavender is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial.

It is also an insecticide and an antivenom. Lavender EO is recommended to relieve muscle contractures, rheumatism and cramps. It is also antispasmodic and decongestant.
